What termination can be used for work with NFA2X 3х35+1х50 (insulated wire of 3 conductors with cross-section 35 mm² and 1 zero carrier with cross-section 50 mm²) and for ABC 4х120 (insulated wire of 4 conductors with cross-section 120 mm²)?
For the wire with zero carrier you can use a set НБТК 25\70. It is a set that contains a head shear-off bolt lug and a heat-shrinkable cuff.
For wire without zero carrier we recommend НБТК-50\150. This set has the same contents but of different sizes. Use a special chart on our website to choose the correct sizes for your particular case. Please note that these connections are not designed for axial load.
What is a better match for heat shrinkable sleeves- bolt connectors or lugs and ferrules for crimping?
It is not possible to give the only correct answer to this question. Both variants can be used in combination with cable sleeves, regardless of the fact that lugs for crimping and bolt connectors have some serious differences. The main difference between them is the method of their installation. Lugs and ferrules for crimping are installed on the wire by means of crimping. Bolt connectors are installed with the help of bolts with shear-off heads. Bolt connectors are more expensive, then lugs and ferrules for crimping. Moreover, bolt connectors have bigger dimensions (internal and internal diameters). However, bolt connectors are multi-range and are designed in cross-sections that match the cross-sections of heat shrinkable sleeves. As a result, the user has a full range of combination made of bolt connectors together with heat shrinkable sleeves.
Does the number of bolts on a bolt connector influence something?
Yes, the more bolts you have on your bolt connector, the safer and more reliable will be a connection. Quantity of bolts should correspond to the cross-section of the cable, the bigger a cable is, the bolts are necessary. For example, for a lug that is designed for the range 150\240 mm² one bolt is not enough for ensuring mechanical strength and electrical reliability of the connection.
Can I sue a bolt connector with an eccentric hole in the barrel for voltage up to 35kV?
No. For voltage 35kV not only good contact matters, graduation of electrical field strength is also important as it influences the work of the connection at high voltage. Relatively big butt end edge works for smooth flow of voltage from wire to the connector, and the central symmetrical hole for even distribution of electrical field. KBT has made special series of connectors HBE-35 and СБЕ-35 that work for 20 and 35 kV. They are made of brass and are lubricated with electrical paste.
What tools can I use for the installation of bolt connectors except for the spanners?
A set of spanners is not what you need for the installation of bolt connectors. The best choice for this work is set that contains changeable hex sockets of different sizes, a ratchet key and a support tool frame for fixation of the connector before the operation. This all KBT has in one set called НМБ-6. The set is in a fabric bag. It is the best investment for electricians.
What should I do if after shear off the bolt heads I still have some parts of the head on the connector?
This depends on the design of the connector. Some of them have only one grooved, which looks like a neck. In this case, it is very likely some part of the head will remain above. More often it happens when you use the maximum size of the cable that matches the connector. One of the reasons for that can also be low-quality material and wrong calculated force for shear off. That is why it is important to choose a supplier with a wide range of connectors with accurate sizes and matching tools.
In case you still need to deal with some parts of the bolt left on the surface of the connector, you can file it away because they can damage the heat-shrinkable sleeve. We also recommend removing all metal filings before shrinking the tube or sleeve.
I have seen different palms of them connectors, some of them are positioned at an angle. Why so?
The choice of the connector depends on the area where you will have to do the installation. For example, it is easier to install an angle connector in confined places, as

If I need to make a connection only for some time, is it allowed to screw the bolts till the end and not to shear them off, so that I can easily unscrew the bolts when I need to disconnect?
No, it is not recommended to do so. It is carefully calculated that a reliable connection is ensured after the shear off the bolt because it guarantees the necessary force. If the head was sheared off, it is not possible to use the connector one more time.
What is the difference between bolt connectors НБЕ/СБЕ KBT from screw connectors GPH?
The installation method of connectors from both manufacturers is the same: shear off bolts. GPH has two types of bolt connectors: with 1 bolt as economy version, and with two bolts as a more expensive and reliable model. All KBT connectors НБЕ/СБЕ have no less than 2 bolts. KBT connectors European series have bolts located at an angle of 50°, just the same as in bolt connectors made by German GHP. All the rest parameters are the same for both manufacturers: material, mechanical strength, contact resistance.
